Dropshipping Didn’t Get Harder.
It Got More Honest.
Most dropshippers won’t fail because of tariffs.
They won’t fail because of competition.
They won’t fail because “dropshipping is dead.”
They will fail because the model they are running no longer works.
The market didn’t change overnight.
But the standard did.
Your Fulfillment Model Did.
For years, the model was simple:
Buy cheap.
Ship direct.
Wait 2–3 weeks.
Keep the margin.
That model is gone.
Signal
Tariffs + surcharges + removal of de minimis changed unit economics.
Data
Across recent Shopify guidance and Amazon logistics updates,
low-ticket items shipped individually are now seeing landed costs jump significantly due to stacked duties, brokerage, and handling.
Implication
This is not anti-China.
It is anti–per-parcel shipping.
China sourcing still works.
Bulk shipping + local fulfillment works even better.
Same supplier.
Different structure.
Different outcome.
Action
Move from per-order shipping → bulk import → local fulfillment.
Or slowly bleed margin until the business stops working.
